Active Release Techniques®/ART®
ART® is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system/movement-based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, and nerves. Using ART®, Dr. DiPaolo combines both examination and treatment, carefully evaluating the texture, tightness, and movement of affected areas and applying precisely directed tension with specific patient movements. With more than 500 specific moves unique to ART®, this treatment method allows Dr. DiPaolo to identify and correct subtle issues that affect a patient’s mobility and comfort.
Applied Kinesiology (A.K.)
A.K. is an advanced form of diagnosis and treatment using muscle testing as a non-invasive, accurate, and dynamic biofeedback mechanism. A.K. is used to examine how an individual's body functions in life. After identifying weak or non-functioning muscles, Dr. DiPaolo will apply the precise therapy to correct the problem and help restore proper muscle balance, posture, and movement throughout the entire body.
Kinesio Taping
After treatment, Dr. DiPaolo will often apply kinesio tape over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax sore muscles, and support muscles in movement on a 24 hour/day basis. Kinesio taping is designed to gently create forces on the surface of the skin which elevates the tissue and relieves the pressure of the structures beneath the area taped. Many people with chronic muscle and joint pain successfully respond to kinesio taping when all other medical treatments have failed. The difference is that kinesio tape allows patients to maximize strength, support joint stability, and optimize function during daily activities without losing valuable time due to pain caused by repetitive motion that will, over time, end in accumulative trauma disorders, permanent disabilities, and loss of jobs.
Spinal Decompression/Traction
In this specific procedure, Dr. DiPaolo will gently stretch the spine to separate the compressed disc and fixated vertebrae, assisted by a manual, intermittent traction table. This gentle isolated movement reduces the pressure off of the disc and nerves between the vertebrae. In a few treatments, this therapy will allow the body to decrease swelling, spasm, and pain, lengthening the spine and correcting posture.
Therapeutic Nutrition
This technique begins with a comprehensive health questionnaire to evaluate metabolic and nutritional status including, if needed, further assessment by means of laboratory testing to determine foods and/or nutritional factors that may be excessive, insufficient or creating sensitivities. Dr. DiPaolo works with patients to determine the appropriate types of quality, earth-made foods and condiments/herbs that are specific to each patient's unique, biochemical needs. Most Americans live a lifestyle that is high in stress and eat foods that are low in nutritional value. Dr. DiPaolo may recommend concentrated food supplements to ensure the body gets sufficient raw essential fatty acids, enzymes, amino acids, and trace minerals to fortify, repair, and heal.
Cranial Sacral Therapy
This gentle, hands-on therapy works with the craniosacral system which develops, pumps, and circulates the cerebral spinal fluid in a precise rhythm. Dr. DiPaolo will correct restricted joint motion of the bones associated with the skull, pelvis, and the surrounding soft tissue. Any imbalance, interruption, or dysfunction in this closed system will affect the flow of the cerebrospinal fluid that bathes
and feeds the brain and spinal cord, resulting in possible sensory, motor, or neurological disabilities.
Chiropractic Manipulation
This treatment method involves safe, effective adjustments/corrections of the spine, hips, shoulders, arms, and legs. Misalignment or fixation of these bones and joints alter nerve function and affect body posture. Using non-force chiropractic manipulation, Dr. DiPaolo removes these distortions and allows proper nerve flow to muscles and organs, improving communication throughout the nervous system, thus restoring the body’s ability to heal itself.
